Une météorologue d’une chaîne de télévision du Mississippi est absente des écrans de l’État américain depuis qu’elle a cité Snoop Dogg en direct sur les ondes plus tôt ce mois-ci.
La météorologue et présentatrice de nouvelles Barbie Bassett n’a pas été vue à l’antenne de la filiale de NBC WLBT depuis le 8 mars, selon Date limite (tel que rapporté par L’indépendant). Ce n’était pas non plus la première fois que Bassett suscitait la controverse, selon des informations. On prétend qu’en octobre de l’année dernière, elle s’est excusée après avoir fait référence à la “grand-mère” d’un journaliste noir à l’antenne.
Son absence de l’émission depuis l’incident du mercredi 8 mars aurait incité les téléspectateurs à croire qu’elle avait été renvoyée de son rôle.
Le compte Twitter de Bassett est également absent depuis cette date. En effet, le météorologue était notamment absent de toute discussion sur les réseaux sociaux au sujet de la tornade, qui a frappé le Mississippi le week-end dernier, provoquant une dévastation généralisée.
En plus de cela, Bassett n’est plus répertorié sur le site Web de la station – selon le journal, Le grand livre de Clarion. Le journal déclare: “Bassett n’a pas répondu aux messages directs sur Twitter, Facebook et son site Web personnel.”
Le New York Post cite le vice-président régional de la station, Ted Fortenberry, disant : “Comme je suis sûr que vous pouvez le comprendre, WLBT n’est pas en mesure de commenter les questions de personnel.”
